Serenity by Simafri
Hacked WordPress site: we take it over, and we keep it running
A cleaned site starts clean, then gets taken again. Simafri puts your site back online on a base we host, secure and keep up to date, and looks after it from then on, month after month. You keep your domain name and your content.
What we measured
What a cleanup does not change
On 1 September 2026 we surveyed 540 SMB websites running WordPress, one request per site, reading what is publicly served. Here is what that estate carries.
The median site carries 3 plugins, the heaviest in the survey carries 28. The method and the dataset are published.
The heart of it
Why a cleaned site gets taken again
A cleanup removes what was dropped in, and returns the site to what it was the day before. What stays is the number of suppliers the site depends on.
Every plugin has its publisher
A theme, a gallery, a form, a cache, a translator: each is shipped by a different team, releasing its fixes at its own pace.
One late update is enough
A site's security follows its slowest supplier, not its fastest. Among the sites surveyed, half depend on 2 publishers or more, and the most exposed depends on 21.
Someone has to hold the wheel
Following those releases, applying the fixes and watching the site is continuous work. That is the work Simafri takes on inside the subscription.

Hacked WordPress site: what happens, and what actually gets fixed
Code injected into your pages, redirects to a site you have never heard of, a warning next to your name in search results, your email landing in spam: when a WordPress site gets hacked, the symptom is visible and a cleanup wipes it. What a cleanup does not change is what the site is made of. That is why a site can be taken several times over even though every cleanup was done properly.
What our survey shows
On 1 September 2026 we surveyed what 540 SMB WordPress sites are made of. The median site carries 3 plugins and depends on 2 publishers. In the heaviest decile it carries 11, and the maximum recorded is 28. And 66 % of the sites carry at least one plugin from outside the public repository, meaning one whose updates do not come through the automatic channel. The method, the sampling frame and the dataset are published, and the figures on this page come from it.
Taking the site over rather than cleaning it one more time
A takeover means putting your site back online on a base we hold: we rebuild your pages, we host them on our servers, and the technical follow-up becomes our work. You keep what is yours, starting with your domain name and your content. From then on your site is kept up to date, backed up and watched for as long as your subscription runs, by the same team that put it back online.
Who this is for
For SMBs, tradespeople and shops, professional practices, restaurants and hotels, nonprofits and organisations whose brochure site runs on WordPress and asks for attention they do not have time to give it. If your site is an online shop or a news outlet, talk to us: we have an offer for that, and our press offer is presented on the Serenity for Press page.
